Job description Business Unit Manager Commercial Sector

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Business Unit Manager Commercial Director to join our company.

Your role within Hypsos will be one of three Business Unit Managers (BUM) focused on projects within the commercial sector. You are responsible for all your team members dedicated to deliver projects within:

  • Brand Experience & Corporate Interior
  • Exhibitions & World Events

Your counterpart will be the BUM Public Sector, focusing mainly on museums, science centers and visitor centers. Together with a third BUM (responsible for Production) you will be part of the Senior Management Team.

Your role is one of leadership, you are responsible for your unit and its ultimate success within the organization, working closely with the other Senior Management Team members to achieve the company objectives, meet the business plan and future vision.

As a BUM, you will be challenged daily, you will be required to think creatively and strategically, but above all in the best interests of the company and our collective goal to retain a good sustainable profitability, growth over the coming years, along with maintaining our excellent reputation and passion for quality.

You are required to effectively communicate the expectations and vision of Hypsos to the business unit team, motivate, encourage, and develop your team to support each other, work and collectively think as a team.

Who you are:

  • You have six to eight years broad work-related experience preferred in: financial, sales, project management, engineering and business management fields
  • International experience specific to the industry you are applying within
  • Proven ability to motivate teams to achieve high standards and accomplish set outcomes

Also the following strengths should be incorporated into your business skills:

  • High stress tolerance: during high pressure or chaos you can stay calm and radiate this to the team, keep an overview and have a rational approach to the situation. Independent and confident in decision making.

  • Strategic thinking: you can envision the “big picture” and work towards it while keeping your day-to-day objectives at the forefront. Always thinking ahead, you can present goals and motivate others to meet those goals at a high level of performance.

Your daily work:

As a BUM Commercial Sector you have two primary roles.

As a BUM you strategically plan and develop your business unit and actively pass on positive outcomes to assist and develop other business units. You are also responsible for the delivery of the sales and profit targets; manage, develop and improve the business unit team and the incorporation of policies and procedures.

Your commercial role involves that you actively take responsibility for each project delivered by your business unit, deliver high quality projects and services to our clients and develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with existing and new clients.

As a BUM you have to be able to balance internal and external focus, think and plan ahead and be able to solve problems creatively and effectively in close collaboration with your client, your team, internal and external stakeholders.

Besides having commercial and management knowledge,

  • You are fluent in English (common working language) and Dutch in both speech and writing;
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and;
  • As the ideal candidate, you are also a creative strategist with excellent organizational skills

Salary depending on education and experience.
