Olympic Games – Tokyo 2021

(March 30, 2020: postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus) Fifty-six years after organizing the Olympic Games, the Japanese capital is organizing a summer edition for the second time, from July 24 to August 9, 2020. The Games in 1964 radically changed the country. According to the organizers of the event in 2020, the Games of the XXXII Olympiad of modern times will be the most innovative ever organized and are based on three fundamental principles to transform the world: striving for your personal best; accept each other (unity in diversity); and pass on an inheritance for the future (connecting with tomorrow) ".

In line with the reforms advocated by the Olympic Agenda 2020, the Tokyo Games will use as many existing venues as possible, namely, those built for the Games in 1964, such as the prestigious Nippon Budokan for judo, the Baji Koen Park for equestrian events, and the Yoyogi National Gymnasium for handball. The Tokyo National Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics competitions are organized, is being completely renovated and replaced by a new arena.

Japan has been an Olympic country since the 1964 Summer Games, the first to be performed in Asia. In 2020 the country will organize its fourth Games if you include the 1972 Winter Games in Sapporo and 1998 in Nagano.
