Amazing Asian Animals

Hypsos was responsible for the design and build of the interpretive elements for the new Panda habitat and Goldfish pavilion at Hong Kong’s new Ocean Park attraction, Amazing Asian Animals. The Panda walkthrough experience features two pandas recently gifted by the government of the People’s Republic of China to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong. Unusual red pandas and rare Chinese Salamanders share the habitat.

Together with zoo design firm Studio Hanson/Roberts, we developed the visitor storyline which plays out in a multimedia pre-show, interpretive graphics and interesting interactive action stations, all constructed with tough but environmentally sustainable materials.

Hypsos was also responsible for the concept and installation of the Goldfish Pavilion where three themes are presented: Wild, Celebrated and Treasured, which was inspired by the hidden riches to be discovered inside a treasure box. Taking traditional Chinese woodworking techniques as a starting point, we designed and installed custom fish tanks that show off some of the unusual varieties of Gold Fish, regarded as a lucky symbol in Chinese culture.
