City Gallery Hong Kong
The City Gallery is a 4 level exhibition, designed by MET Studio and installed at the former City Hall Annex on the Victoria Harbourfront.
Hong Kong is a densely populated territory with limited land resources. Its emergence as a world-class city with a stable and diversified economic base is a result of careful and often visionary planning by the Hong Kong Government. The exhibition looks at the measures taken to maximize economic and social development through careful planning of infrastructure to accommodate the growth of first industry and later the logistics and financial markets that have created the successful and vibrant place it is today. In the process, the government has created one of the world’s most efficient transportation networks, provided housing for millions of local residents, and fostered a vision for social, economic and cultural benefits for many years to come.
Thematic areas include the Living Environment, Strategic Infrastructure, Hong Kong Next Century and a number of exhibits that look back to Hong Kong’s cultural heritage as it relates to past and future planning.
