On March 31st the Dutch Military Museum officially opened photo exhibition “The Widows from Rawagede’.

The exhibition features portraits of eight widows from Rawagede (Java) and South Sulawesi who lost their husbands on December 9th 1947 as a result of summary executions during Dutch purges.

The eight surviving widows of the murdered men and the only surviving man are portrayed by documentary photographer Suzanne Liem. The photos in the exhibition are provided with their personal and poignant story.

Hypsos produced the designs and has realized the exhibition, which can be seen from April 1st to July 1st 2017.
