The Irish Racehorse Experience

We are honoured to be recognised for our contribution for the DIGITAL – INTERNATIONAL award together with @mcw and @Heijmerink Wagemakers for The Irish Racehorse Experience at the 2022 Museums + Heritage Awards, ‘the Oscars of the museum world’!
It tells the story of the thoroughbred breed and horse racing in Ireland — intended to enhance the experience of a day of horse racing at the Irish National Stud Garden.
Thoroughbred racing horses have been bred at the Irish National Stud Garden in Tully since 1900 and receive more than 120,000 visitors every year. This number is expected to increase significantly as a result of the Irish Racehorse Experience and in particular to increase the duration of staying of national and international visitors.
The new experience allows the visitor to enter the world of breeding thoroughbred horses for horse racing. The visitor experiences what it is like to prepare a foal for the first race and glorious career. What is needed and what distinguishes a “normal” horse from an exceptional racing horse such as Invincible Spirit?
“The Irish Racehorse Experience provides a beautiful stage for the Irish racehorse to be showcased to the world. Ireland is unique in its ability to provide the perfect environment for skilled people and very fertile land to breed the best horses. Through this experience will be able to understand how this is done and try this for yourself.”

From foal to finish
At the heart of the attraction is an immersive experience. Here the visitor is shown how a thoroughbred is trained and released at races from foal to finish. Visitors will also have the opportunity to “race” their horse through the latest simulation technology never before used in Ireland.
Have you made the right choices and thus developed the perfect racing horse? Then take a seat in The Big Race on one of the eight racehorses and your horse might win the race!
The exhibition has been rewarded the DIGITAL – INTERNATIONAL award at the 2022 Museums + Heritage Awards. ‘The Oscars of the museum world’!
