Abdullah Gül Presidential Museum and Library

Built to honor former President Gül, the museum tells the story of his life and his contributions to Turkey and Turkish society.
Bringing Turkey’s political history to life, in an iconic historical location
The specially renovated exhibition space spans three floors, featuring eight thematic areas over 1.500 m2. It’s housed in part of the Sumerbank Textile Factory dating back to 1933, in Kayseri, Turkey.
Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA) is the leading and largest museum exhibition design firm. Hypsos partnered with RAA on the design development and production of the fit-out for the Abdullah Gül Museum. Whilst RAA designed the exhibition, our specialist team was an essential part of the process to ensure the artistic aspects and technical features of the project could be delivered in the unique factory space.
Hypsos was chosen to bring this exhibition to life thanks to our commitment to high-quality craftsmanship, innovative methods, professionalism and our detailed project management process.

“Hypsos was the best choice for our project. They were very professional and handled the project efficiently.”

An artistic and logistic challenge
Artistically the project was quite challenging — various exhibition elements had to be brought to life, yet seamlessly integrated within the historic backdrop of the factory. We re-imagined the life of President Gül through various media; audio-visual, interactive hardware solutions, videos and presentations, and even exact replicas of President Gül’s offices.

Lighting was an integral part of the exhibition
Namely to draw attention to the displays and collection, but also to highlight the unique architectural details of the former factory building.

Bespoke display case for special, high-value objects
Hypsos designed bespoke climate-controlled display cases for special, high-value objects. Plus integrated signage takes the visitors on a journey through the years. The result is an immersive and historic experience that excites and engages visitors, young and old.
A quality-first approach
As an ISO 9001-certified organization, here at Hypsos, we pride ourselves on high-quality control from the moment we are brought on board. Our strict quality-first processes and procedures for the Abdullah Gül Presidential Museum and Library included:
A detailed sign-off process, from the first sketch to the final delivery
Extensive sampling to ensure the finest quality materials
Multiple 1:1 test mock-ups, built in-house at the factory in Soesterberg, to check functional and artistic quality
Regular and transparent communication with all relevant parties
Quality assurance checklists for each production package
A trusted transportation company, with local, Turkish-speaking drivers
A two-phase delivery process to allow for snags and repairs, before the soft launch
Strict rules during the build — only the Hypsos team was allowed on site to avoid any unexpected delays or issues
Training for the museum team on the fit-out components, including how to make small repairs with spare parts provided and an ongoing SLA
