Museum Bronbeek
"The new permanent exhibition at Museum Bronbeek narrates the rise and fall of a colony, covering the conquest, governance, society, wars, and the struggle for independence. It concludes with reflections on how we now view this shared history in Indonesia and the Netherlands."
Located on a historic estate in Arnhem, the Bronbeek Museum resides in a monumental building. While carrying out our tasks, we had to balance the museum visitors' experience with that of the estate's visitors and the challenges of working in such a historic structure. We paid special attention to the veterans:
•We agreed to minimize noise (radio, drilling, sawing)
•Sections were left open so veterans could observe the work
•The production staff were tasked with communicating with the veterans and involving them in the process
