How do you turn 781 years of history into a journey visitors can feel? Andalusia: History and Civilisation explored the intellectual, cultural and artistic legacy of Al Andalus through seven defining moments.

Each chapter became its own theatrical world. Visitors moved from the monumental arches of Córdoba and the court of Medina Azahara to an intimate poetry majlis, Al-Idrisi’s maps and the gardens of the Alhambra. Deep greens, terracotta tones and warm metallic details created a rich, contemplative atmosphere. Repeating arches, graphic calligraphy and precisely lit showcases gave every space a distinct identity while connecting the journey as a whole.

Projection, augmented reality, interactives, soundscapes and scent brought historic places and people closer. Artefacts remained at the heart of the experience, illuminated with restraint and surrounded by scenography that strengthened their stories.

Hypsos Netherlands and Hypsos UAE delivered the construction and realisation, turning Barker Langham’s design into a layered museum experience grounded in scholarship, craftsmanship and sensory detail.
